Expo '70, Osaka: Home

Introduction

The Japan World Exposition, Osaka, 1970, also known as the Expo '70, Osaka, was a world fair held for over half a year in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. The theme of the expo was "Progress and Harmony for Mankind". As the first world fair taken place in Asia, Hong Kong government was one of the oversea participants at the time, represented with a pavilion designed by Alan Fitch from W. Szeto & Partners. The design of the pavilion took reference from the Victoria Harbour and Chinese junks.

The M+ Collection Archives contain the archival material of the Hong Kong pavilion. Also, there are the proposed design of the Expo '70 poster by Kamekura Yusaku and also a final version designed by Fukuda Shigeo in the Collection.
